Get away from it all in this private retreat set amongst a 5-acre estate in the pretty village of Orford. Enjoy tranquil walks from your front door along the River Alde, beside the quay, or into the heart of the village. The spacious property sleeps eight guests and has a fantastic choice of social spaces both indoors and outside. The cottage is close to the Suffolk coast, and the seaside resort of Aldeburgh is just 11.5 miles away.
The holiday home oozes style and sophistication, with beautiful contemporary furniture and soft furnishings sitting alongside characterful period features. The sociable lounge/diner has a roaring wood burner set in a striking brick fireplace, and a plethora of comfortable seating to relax on after a busy day. At the opposite end of the room is a large dining table to seat everyone and a pool table providing post-dinner entertainment. French doors open from here onto the garden, extending the social space further in summer months. The sleek kitchen has everything you need to cater for a large group, as well as a second dining table that’s perfect for hosting family breakfasts. The ground floor has a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, and there’s also a handy utility room with space to store outdoor gear. The three remaining bedrooms are upstairs, along with a gorgeous family bathroom. The cottage sits within a private, 5-acre estate, with ample space for outdoor games and al fresco dining. Take a morning stroll through the meadow or around the pond, or get the adrenaline pumping with a game of tennis on your private court. The River Alde is just across the bank, where you can launch a small dinghy or enjoy a waterside walk.
Orford is arguably one of Suffolk’s prettiest villages, thanks to its quaint cottages, cosy pubs, and picturesque quay. After a potter around the village, why not board one of the regular river cruises, to admire the stunning landscape from the water? Alternatively, stride out along one of the many footpaths through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to explore the remote heaths, shingle beaches, and wide variety of local wildlife. The seaside town of Aldeburgh makes a lovely day out, with an attractive pebble beach, colourful promenade, and excellent range of eateries, many of which serve delicious, fresh seafood.
