One Well Cottage, built in 1800, is a pretty timbered cottage set in the 'conservation' heart of the village of Holton. It is ideal for visiting Southwold's sandy beaches and pier, the wonderful RSPB nature reserve of Minsmere, the 'lost city' of Dunwich and the world crabbing championship venue of Walberswick.
Quietly situated in a row of traditional Suffolk cottages, this charming property is within walking distance (about a mile or so) of The White Hart at Halesworth, which does good food, and local coarse fishing.
The landmark and symbol of Holton is the fantailed post-mill that overlooks the village. Parts of the mill date from the 17th Century and a mill has been there since medieval times.
St Peter's, a Norman church, has a rare round tower, one of the tallest in Suffolk, and a double roof, is reputed to have been used by smugglers who brought their booty up the River Blyth.
A mile away, the pretty market town of Halesworth offers a choice of shops, good restaurants and pubs. Indoor heated pool at Bungay is(9 miles). Pay and play golf, and riding stables near Halesworth.
