SNAPE 5.5 miles (9km) ALDEBURGH 12 miles (17km) WOODBRIDGE 12 miles (19km) SOUTHWOLD 26 miles (42km) FRAMLINGHAM 13 miles (22km) Just a few yards from the quayside in Orford - one of the prettiest locations on the Suffolk Coast - this traditional fisherman's cottage has been nicely refurbished as a cosy two bedroom cottage with its own south facing patio garden.
Orford is a delightful coastal village, with a fascinating 12th century castle keep, once a major pillar in the defence of the English coast. Across the estuary (just a 5 minute boat ride away) is Orford Ness (an area of historic and environmental fascination run by the National Trust). There are spactacular views from the quay along the coast to Aldeburgh to the north and Havergate Island (a RSPB bird sanctuary) to the south.
Minutes from fine cafes, restaurants and lovely pubs, Mariners Cottage provides superb views and a wonderful base for sailing, walking and cycling. It is a delightful location in the heart of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, ideal for everything from a family beach holiday to an historic tour of Suffolk's finest castles and churches.
This is a charming historic cottage (circa 1620), with a modern kitchen and bathroom. The cottage is superbly positioned - walking distance to all the fine amenities of Orford, and just metres from the Quay, the renowned Jolly Sailor pub, and the Riverside Tea Room. The cottage has the most delightful private terrace - completely protected from wind and facing south providing for a beautiful sun trap all year round.
