USEFUL INFORMATION

Simply cross the road and you are on a footpath which leads along a track out towards the woods, Gedgrave and the Butley River. Follow the circular walk past the castle to the Ore and Alde and then back via the quay. This is a walkers' paradise. Additional logs can be purchased from Friends Garage just a short walk from the house.

PROVIDED Bed linen and towels for the cottage

PACKING TIPS Walking boots, bikes, binoculars, buckets and spades and beach towels. Crabbing lines can be bought in Orford and Woodbridge and will keep the young at heart happy for hours.

ALSO WORTH KNOWING Two great country pubs - The Kings Head and The Jolly Sailor with an old world atmosphere and charm combined with really good local produce and great beers. Orford is one of the most delightful coastal towns on the East Coast with much to see and do.

Excellent village shop, butchers and two smokeries in Orford. An excellent garage where you can buy petrol and much else (closed on Sundays)

Not so crowded as Southwold or Aldeburgh, but with loads to do and see for all the family: Orford Castle, trips to Orford Ness (National Trust) and Havergate (RSPB), hour long boat rides on The Regardless and breakfast,lunch and dinner cruises on the Lady Florence, sailing, crabbing, walking and a tea shop on the quay.
