1 Castle Cottage, Orford
Snape, Suffolk Coast
A delight. Small but very well equipped, the perfect place to totally wind down from our stupidly busy working life. I don't think we have ever slept in such a comfortable bed! Lovely linens and pillows. Orford is a delight. We were able to immerse ourselves in the peace and slow pace of this Suffolk gem. Wonderful walking, bird life, food and hospitality made the only too short week memorable. Can't wait to come back. Thank you for your service. Linda and Peter W, Leicester June 2010

Know what you are getting
House Style: Early Victorian end of terrace brick-constructed cottage newly and beautifully converted to create spacious accommodation for a couple. Grounds: A cottage garden to the side and the rear of the cottage with summer house, terraced area.
Ideal for: Couple looking for really comfortable and luxurious break in beautiful surroundings with all amenities within walking distance
Eating & drinking: The kitchen is brand new and extremely spacious and with an excellent village store (loads of fresh local produce), two smoke houses for smoked fish, hams and cheeses, a fresh fish hut at the water's edge and an excellent butcher, cooking will be a pleasure. If you would rather go out then a visit to The Trinity Restaurant at the Crown & Castle, Orford, The Butley & Orford Oysterage or one of the two excellent pubs in the village, The Jolly Sailor and The Kings Head will all serve you an excellent meal - and you can enjoy the Adnams beer or fine wine as all are within a few minutes' walk of the cottage.
Children: Whilst there is plenty of space for a travel cot, Castle Cottage is great for a romantic weekend so you might prefer to come without the kids.
Music: A really good flat screen TV with free view, DVD player, and IPod dock are all provided. There is also a good selection of plays and films on DVD and some great books.
Packing tips: Always good to bring walking boots as it will be hard to resist a walk over the castle fields and out to the river bank. A warm jacket even in summer is worthwhile as you may want to visit Orford Ness, (National Trust), Havergate Island (RSPB) or take one of the river trips (an hour's trip on The Regardless, or a breakfast, lunch or afternoon cruise on the Lady Florence - a real treat and if cold you can retreat to the cabin).
You can buy all you want to eat in Orford and even order groceries to be there for your arrival Orford General Store.
