Refuse disposal can be something of a challenge for anyone on holiday and it is very tempting to load everything into a black sack and forget about it. But such a response affects both our carbon footprint and others’ enjoyment of the wonderful Suffolk countryside.

So how do you get rid of rubbish when you are holidaying in Suffolk?

First you have to know which district you are in:

1. Forest Heath District Council
2. St Edmundsbury Borough Council
3. Babergh District Council
4. Mid Suffolk District Council

Most of us will now be familiar with the words “carbon footprint”. But what does it mean for anyone planning a holiday and what can we do to minimise our own carbon footprint when travelling?

A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact that human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of green house gases produced; so flying, driving, caravaning etc are going to raise your carbon footprint considerably.
