With the Black Barn (sleeps 2) receiving national media coverage for its fascinating design, comfort and beauty, artist/designer Tony Yates has created a second wonderful self-catering cottage within this idyllic four acre setting.
Once a studio and exhibition area, the owner, Tony Yates has transformed the Gallery to create a superb light and airy holiday cottage. Designer and artist, he has created much of the furniture and fittings and decorated it with examples of his art work and sculpture.<
Grounds:
There is a private courtyard garden with table and chairs directly outside the cottage as well as extensive moated gardens which have designed as much for the superb wildlife of the area as for the pleasure of holidaymakers. You are more than welcome to explore the woodland area, duck ponds and wildlife areas, or simply sit on one of the grassland benches or relax on a rug with a picnic and let the deer, birds and badgers come to you.
Parking:
Parking for 2 cars on the drive outside the property
Sleeps:
Four in one double and one twin bedded room, and a travel cot is also available.
This property is ideal for
Adults and children will relish the peace of the gardens and when the children want some more lively activity there is a great play farm Moo Play Farm just a mile down the road. The Suffolk Coast is immensely varied and The Gallery is just a short drive from Southwold with its world famous pier and sandy beach, fine restaurants and galleries or for a quieter day out Covehithe, with its magnificent church within a church, steep cliffs and quiet coastal walks. Walberswick and Dunwich are different again and birdwatchers will enjoy a visit to RSPB Minsmere and the southern Broads at nearby Beccles and Bungay where the Harry Potter books are printed. For theatre, music, art and film lovers a trip to The Cut is definitely recommended. An excellent venue for local art exhibitions, concerts, and film showings, The Cut relies heavily on the local community to keep it going.
Cyclists and walkers will delight in the plethora of byways and footpaths and there is easy access for cyclists with Brampton Station just a short walk or cycle from the cottage.
Self catering, eating and drinking
The owners (very good cooks) are happy to prepare a meal for your arrival or a dinner during your stay (please contact them directly for prices). This is an area for great pubs and fine local beers, superb fish from fish and chips in paper, Seashell in Halesworth to fish dining at The Crown in Southwold or the Orford Oysterage in Orford . Cleones Italian Restaurant, at The Angel Halesworth offers authentic Italian food, including delicious homemade pizzas straight from the oven, and generous portions of homemade pasta.
