Alexander House, a luxury Suffolk property, enjoys the best of both worlds; in the heart of Thorpeness, an Arts and Crafts designed seaside village, close to Aldeburgh on the Suffolk Heritage coast, Alexander House is in fact much older and was once a farm house. It has loads of privacy situated at the end of a private lane with access to heathland footpaths beyond, yet is just a couple of minutes walk from the beach and the fascinating amenities which Thorpeness enjoys.
In the centre of the village is the Meare, a wildlife rich lake, with rowing boats and punts for hire. Thorpeness also has a country club with tennis courts, golf course, attractive pub and an excellent village shop and new restaurant, The Thorpeness Brasserie & Emporium.
Just a short walk along a seaside footpath will take you to Aldeburgh, home of the Aldeburgh Festival and the Freud Summer Theatre, where there are several excellent restaurants, pubs and lovely shops, as well as a fascinating museum, boating lake, sailing and yacht club. RSPB Minsmere, Dunwich and Southwold are all within a short drive.
The sitting room: Comfortable and relaxing sitting room, ideal as a children's retreat, television room or reading room with wooden floors, large sofa, armchairs, coffee table, TV, with SKY package, video, DVD player,games, books. Views over the front garden towards Thorpeness' heathland. Door leading to side garden.
The Drawing Room: A large double aspect wooden floored room is divided into two areas. The dining room, which overlooks the rear garden and fields beyond, has a large extendable table seating up to 12 people, wall cupboard and a serving hatch leading through to the kitchen.
With an open fire, sofas, armchairs and window seats the drawing room is sunny and comfortable and has views over the front garden.
From the drawing room a door leads to a cloakroom with w.c. and washhand basin.
A door from the hall leads into the breakfast room where there is a dining table and chairs, sideboard and window seats. The large beamed kitchen is well equipped with a large 5 ring Rangemaster gas hob, double sized oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, butler's sink and fitted cupboards. There is a utility cupboard with washing machine and drying facilities. French doors lead to the outside decking.
The master bedroom has a super king bed, bedside tables and lamp, fitted wardrobe, chair and doors to a balcony with views over the fields. There is an ensuite shower room with shower, w.c. and washhand basin
The twin bedded room has full sized single beds, bedside table and light, a fitted cupboard, washhand basin and a view over the fields.
A second double bedroom with double bed, bedside table and light, chest of drawers and lovely views over the front of the house, Thorpeness and the surrounding heathland. Facilities include a shower, bidet and washhand basin.
There is a single bedroom with bed, bedside table, Victorian fireplace and cupboard with shelves.
There is a second twin bedroom with two full-sized single beds, table and shelved cupboard and wash basin.
A further bedroom with full sized bunks overlooks the front of the house. It has a chest of drawers, bedside table and lamps.
There are two family bathrooms, one with bath and overhead shower, washhand basin and w.c, and one with shower, basin and wc
There is a large private garden, mostly laid to lawn, surrounding the house with an area of decking with garden furniture and a barbecue.
There is parking for up to three cars in the drive and further parking in the private lane outside
In consideration of other visitors, please do not smoke in the property
Bed linen and towels are provided, but please bring beach towels
Oil central heating and lighting etc are provided
A Good Housekeeping deposit of £250 is required with the full or final payment. This deposit is refundable as long as Booking Conditions are met.

Alexander House is popular with families with young children and toddlers but please note it is not possible to put a stairgate across the stairs due to their shape. Cots and high chairs are not provided
