"Small but perfect! We really enjoyed the cottage and all that Orford has to offer - Thank you!" Mr and Mrs F, Trimley St Martin

This traditional Suffolk cottage has been beautifully converted to create a stunning interior, ideal for a great holiday break. The cottage garden is west facing with a good sized lawn and well-kept flower beds. Catching all the afternoon sun, it is ideal for afternoon picnics and evening barbecues. It comes complete with beach huts, so don't worry about storing those bikes if you are going to do some cycling.

In a superb position in the heart of the village right opposite Orford Castle, the cottage is nicely placed for all that Orford has to offer (and there is a lot). Close to the village centre with its village store Orford General Stores , butchers, fisheries, coffee shops, bakers, two great restaurants and pubs, the estuary and the sea where you can enjoy superb boat rides, trips to Havergate Island (RSPB) and Orford Ness (National Trust).

This area is a walkers' paradise; from the cottage you can enjoy short strolls and long walks on the numerous marked footpaths. All have one thing in common - glorious views over the village, the estuary and of course the sea. J M W Turner sketched and painted at Orford on several occasions - from the church to the estuary there are wonderful sketching opportunities. Music too is a speciality of the area and as well as the Aldeburgh Music (throughout the year at Snape and Aldeburgh) there are many concerts and recitals at the church throughout the year.

If you are one of those who enjoys good food as part of your holiday experience then Orford is a great centre from which to start. The Butley Orford Oysterage , The Crown & Castle, The Kings Head and The Jolly Sailor all serve excellent food. You can buy the best smoked fish and meat from the two smokeries, Richardsons Smoke House on Market Hill and The Butley Orford Oysterage down by the quay and you will find probably the best bread in Suffolk at The Pump Street Bakery.

Just a short drive to Snape, Aldeburgh, Framlingham and Woodbridge, you can be assured of something interesting to do at any time of year.

You can buy all you want to eat in Orford and even order groceries to be there for your arrival Orford General Store.

For more information on the area please have a look at our own online guide Visit-Orford

Right opposite the castle, 2 Castle Terrace has a private garden with a spacious summer house - Orford quay, its shops and restaurants are all within a couple of minutes walk
