SNAPE 2.5 miles ORFORD 5.4 miles, ALDEBURGH 8.4 miles, WOODBRIDGE 9.8 miles, DUNWICH 15.5 miles,  SOUTHWOLD 20 miles,

About the Property: Scapa Lodge has a rustic wooden facade in contrast to the bright, stylish and comfortable interior. It has been thoughtfully arranged to provide an open-plan living space with a well appointed fitted kitchen, a feature apex ceiling with sky lights, a cosy sitting area for two with French doors onto a private paved patio with views over the garden beyond. The one large double bedroom has a double sized bed and hanging space and the shower room has a spacious corner shower.

Parking:
There is plenty of private parking, beside the Lodge.

Sleeps: 2 in one double bedroom which is large enough to accommodate a travel cot.

Setting: Tunstall, a country village 6 miles from the Suffolk coast, is home to the traditional pub, the Green Man Inn, and the Church of St Michael’s, noted for its distinctive box pews. Scapa Lodge is in the hamlet of Tunstall Common which lies half a mile south of Tunstall on the margins of Tunstall Forest, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, that provides walkers, cyclists (including mountain-bikers) and horse riders alike a beautiful site of ancient lowland heath. Nature lovers might like to explore the broadleaved trees and new coniferous plantation rife, with fauna and flora (ground nesting nightjar and woodlark, fallow deer, bell heather, milkwort, speedwell and sheep’s sorrel). Bookworms will be fascinated in the hamlet and forest as the setting of Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Black Arrow: A Tale of Two Roses (1888).

This property is ideal for: Couples looking for a relaxing weekend and to enjoy the thriving music and art scene at neighbouring Snape with it's world famous Festival Hall and Aldeburgh with an impressive collection of private galleries. For the more sporty, this area has so much to offer with bike trails, an equestrian centre, canoe hire at nearby Iken and some of the best fishing marks at Bawdsey, Orford and Aldeburgh.
For keen golfers there are challenging courses at Aldeburgh, Woodbridge and Thorpeness.

Eating and Drinking Out: The nearest pub is the Green Man in Tunstall with a friendly atmosphere, serving traditional pub fare. For a more interesting menu, The Plough & Sail, at Snape is great and worth booking, especially if there is a concert as it is very popular with locals and visitors to the area.
Orford is only 10 minutes by car and a comfortable cycle ride along some very scenic country lanes. En route you should detour to The Froize, another renowned restaurant and pub with irregular opening hours so do check first. Orford offers plenty of options for eating out The Crown & Castle, for more formal dining and both The Jolly Sailor and The Kings Head for great traditional pub meals and local ales.
Further afield, Aldeburgh has some great restaurants too. The RegattaThe Lighthouse and Aldeburgh Market all specialise in fish dishes and there are plenty of tea rooms dotted along the High Street.

Self Catering: To sample the local produce, there are several good farm shops nearby, Friday Street Farm Shop on the A1094 just before you get to the A12 and The Farm Cafe and Food Market, Marlesford. There is also a great deli and tea room at Snape Maltings. The nearest supermarket is an East of England Co-Op in Wickham Market and all the main superstores will deliver to this address.
