Summertime may be over, but don't be too sad as the Autumn is full of plenty exciting events and activities. From fairs, festivals and markets to family-friendly events and activities. Take a look at our guide to what's on in the Suffolk countryside this Autumn for some inspiration to plan your next getaway:

September

MARITIME WOODBRIDGE | Tide Mill Way, Woodbridge, IP12 1FP

This free, family-friendly festival celebrates the sailing and boatbuildin heritage of the delightful market town of Woodbridge. Stretching out over quarter of a mile along the riverside walk from the Tide Mill down to The Tea Hut gardens there will be an array of food, refreshments and activities incuding milling demonstrations and viking re-enactments!

WOODBRIDGE FOLK & BEER HOOTENANNY | Woodbridge Community Hall, Statin Road, IP12 4UU

Don your braces and flat caps, ladies your frills, drink back, munch down and DANCE the night away to a full line up all things folk, bluegrass and fun. Enjoy top quality musicians alongside a local artisan mini beer and cider festival and barbeque. A great way to see in the Autumn.

HIPPIEFEST EAST | Beccles Public Hall & Theatre, Smallgate, Beccles, NR34 9AD

HippieFest event is an annual festival of all things love, peace and live music with many stalls including eco and organic produce and art as well as great food and refreshments.

VINTAGE & MAKER'S MARKET | Snape Maltings, Snape, IP17 1SP

Over 50 of the region’s most passionate vintage traders and talented artisans set up in a beautiful Suffolk setting The Snape Maltings Vintage & Makers Market takes place on Sunday 9th September, with organisers Deben Events lining up a wide array of vintage dealers and local artisans and craftspeople.

UFFORD ARTS FESTIVAL | Church Lane, Ufford, Near Woodbridge, IP13 6DS

A full weekend celebrating the Arts in the delightful village of Suffolk. All events are free to attend with lots of items for children such as the Museum of Beyond with artist Fran Crowe or story telling with professional story teller Shane Ibbs. Stroll around Ufford and enjoy the Scarecrow Trail, yarn-bombing, Words in the Woods, Garden literature Trail, Art & Photographic Exhibition and much more!

COUNTRYSIDE & FALCONRY FAIR | Stonham Barns, Stonham Aspal, IP14 6AT

With arena events including The Medieval Horse & Falconry Spectacular with horses from ‘The Game of Thrones’, Falconry Displays, Dog Agility Teams, Heavy Horses, The Dog & Duck Show, Racing Pigs and more.Exhibits and activities include:- Archery, Basket making, Bookshop, Bee Keeping, Butterfly Conservation, Chainsaw Carving, Country Clothing and Footwear, Country Crafts and much more!

A traditional food and drink fayre with a truly modern offering! Demonstrations win the Kings Yard at the Heritage Centre. Taste the delights and purchase goods from over 30 exhibitors.Saturday 15th - Sunday 16th September 10am - 5pm

AUTUMN WILD FOOD TASTER | Brandon Country Park, Bury Road, IP27 0SU

Learn about wild edible plants in the woods and parkland; with identification tips, guidance and the chance to try out some tasty wild food treats. The session can accommodate vegan and/or gluten free diets; please state when booking. Suitable for ages 7+. Tickets £10 each, booking essential.

THE WOODBRIDGE SHUCK FESTIVAL | Tide Mill Way, Woodbridge, IP12 1FP

A fun-filled weekend of delicious riverside feasting. Freshly cooked seafood meals will be available, along with a variety of stalls, music and children’s entertainment.  Throughout the town, participating restaurants and pubs will also be serving dishes using locally caught and grown fish and shellfish, including River Deben oysters and mussels. Friday and Saturday nights will see the very popular Shuck Shack pop-up restaurant (pre-book only).

THE GREAT FRAMLINGHAM SAUSAGE FESTIVAL | Market Hill, Framlingham, IP13 9AN

The Great Framlingham Sausage Festival is a celebration of the Great British Sausage, or to be more specific, the Great Sausages that are made right here in East Anglia using local ingredients and some mouth-watering recipes. SAXON & VIKING FESTIVAL | Stonham Barns, Stonham Aspal, IP14 6AT

A fantastic one day event celebrating all things Viking and Saxon. There will be over 15 different re-enactment groups from around the country which will descend on the Stonham Barns Showground creating a living history camp made up solely of the Viking and Saxon period referred to as The Dark Age. These different groups will give an insight into the way of life of Viking and Saxon culture. You will come across cooking, weaving, leathercraft, woodwork, blacksmithing, herbalists, Saga story-telling and rune reading. Visitors will be able to try some ‘have a go sessions’ such as archery and axe throwing!
