It's that wonderful time of the year! With all the excitement of Christmas and New Year building up, it's the perfect time to do some shopping and indulge in some festive activities. Luckily there are a whole host of exciting events and activities taking place across Suffolk which are just right to get you in the festive mood. Take a look at our top pick of the best events taking place below:


Christmas Wreath Making Workshop
20th - 23rd November 2019
Ickworth House

Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre
21st - 24th November 2019
Bury St Edmunds
The award winning Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre is now in its eighteenth year and gets bigger and better every time. With over 300 stalls situated all around the historic Georgian town centre it has the perfect mix of old and new. There's something for everyone and includes children’s opening parade and fireworks, cookery theatre and food area in the Cathedral grounds, free children’s activities and fun fair on Angel Hill and in the Abbey Gardens and much much more. Ipswich Big Light Switch On
21st November 2019
Cornhill, Ipswich
This year’s big switch-on will take place at the Cornhill, with an evening of entertainment and panto antics. Singer Jade Mayjean of The Voice fame will perform on stage, with a mix of original tracks from her album and classic fun Christmas tunes, and cast members will give a sneak preview of The Regent’s Christmas pantomime, Cinderella. Hudson Group will be giving away bags of reindeer food and collecting for charity, and children will be able to have selfies taken in front of Santa’s sleigh. The event will also mark the start of the town’s late-night shopping on Thursdays until Christmas. Organisers say there is limited capacity and gates will be shut when the limit is reached, so it is advisable to get there early.

Illuminated Garden Trail
22nd November - 8th December 2019
Helmingham Hall, Helmingham
The magical Illuminated Garden Trail is back and is bigger and better than before! An unmissable event to start off the festive season, see the grounds of Helmingham Hall adorned with thousands of lights transforming the gardens into an enchanted winter wonderland. Continue through the gardens absorbing the magical sights and sounds, gather around the fire pits to toast marshmallows for s’mores and end the evening browsing the Stables Shops where you may be able to find some early Christmas gifts! Tales By Torchlight
22nd - 23rd November 2019
Sutton Hoo
Join us as winter is coming and the nights are drawing in to explore Sutton Hoo by torchlight and discover the Anglo-Saxon storytellers with tales to tell of heroes, monsters and gods. There will be two performances each night. First performance will be from 6.00pm - 7.30pm Second performance will be from 6.30pm - 8.00pm. Children and dogs on leads are welcome. Find out more.

Ickworth Light Nights

Lighting Up Woodbridge
29th November 2019
Father Christmas is coming to light up Woodbridge from 6-6:30pm on Friday, November 29th in the Thoroughfare, outside of Barretts of Woodbridge. He will be collecting any letters that have been written but not delivered and he will take them back to the North Pole to give to his elves in the Christmas workshop. From 6pm to 9pm stores throughout Woodbridge will stay open for late night shopping. Find out more.

Clare Christmas Market and Christmas Lights Switch On
29th - 30th November 2019
With over 60 exhibitors selling festive food, drinks and a great selection of gifts this is the Christmas event in Clare and not to be missed!

Heveningham Hall Christmas Market
1st December 2019
Come and meet Father Christmas from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm. Plus tap dancing turkeys and live reindeer as well as
a whole host of Christmas stalls - get all your Christmas presents in one place. Plus, there's a tombola, raffle, live turkeys, Christmas trees and wreaths, handmade pies, clothing, pictures, Christmas cards and gifts, cakes, refreshments and mulled wine. The Giant Woodbridge Christmas Fair
1st December 2019
The fair will be taking place on Sunday 1st December 2019 from 10am-4pm. There will be more than 120 stalls, bands, carol singers with all shops being open on the day. The Thoroughfare, top end of Cumberland Street, Quay Street, Church Street and the left side of Market Hill will be closed between 8am-5.30pm to all traffic except stall holder vehicles and emergency vehicles. 6th - 8th December 2019

Chelsworth Christmas Fair
7th December 2019
Christmas Fair in the countryside. Stalls selling crafts, gifts and festive foods. Including the famous Chelsworth Christmas Raffle. All this set in a beautiful medieval Church with Christmas tree and decorations and lots of Festive atmosphere. Free parking a short walk from the Fair. Christmas Garland and Foodie Gifts Workshop

The Christmas garland and foodie gifts course is perfect for anyone who wants to create something special for their festive celebrations. Start the day with tea, coffee and mince pies before a hands-on cookery course followed by a light lunch and then an afternoon of flower arranging, creating a wonderfully festive garland for your home. The course will run from 10am until 3pm and includes practical and demonstration sessions, lunch and refreshments. High Lodge Christmas Fair
