The Autumn is a wonderful time of year to visit the Suffolk countryside! With the nights are drawing in, cooler weather and a whole host of exciting events. There is plenty on offer from food festivals to craft fairs and family days out - there's something for everyone!

Sudbury Silk Festival
Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th September 2019
Did you know that Sudbury is the silk capital of the world? With 5 silk firms continuing a long and proud tradition of silk weaving that stretches back to the 1780’s. Discover more at the Sudbury Silk Festival with a whole host of fascinating events including Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company opening their showroom and both Vanners Silk Weavers and Stephen Walters & Sons also having their silk mill shops opens from 10am to 4pm on the day of the festival.

Roman River Festival

A music festival with a difference! This year’s festival welcomes pioneering, entrepreneurial spirits both local and international to work together to inspire and uplift us all. Roman River Music is a charity with a 19-year track record of bringing outstanding quality performances to communities in Colchester, rural Essex and Suffolk, and an extensive music education programme which each year actively involves over 1,000 children and young people.

Newmarket Food & Drink Festival

The Home of Horseracing turns into a foodie haven for the weekend as the Newmarket Food & Drink Festival returns to the town. Offering over 30 stalls of locally-grown produce or street food from various exhibitors from across East Anglia alongside a variety of bars with prosecco, cocktails or beers on offer to all. Enjoy your food or a drink whilst listening to live local music acts on the Corkers Stage in the beautiful Palace Gardens.

Autumn Plant Fair & Artisan Market

September 15th September 2019
An exciting day out at one of the county's most beautiful stately homes. Ideal for both experienced and novice gardeners with specialist nurseries, artisan products, conservation zone, entertainment and children’s activities, - there is something for every taste and age. Lady Tollemache, who has won gold medals at Chelsea for her garden designs, will also be taking a group of visitors around the Helmingham Hall gardens. Tickets for the tour cost £10 each.

The last weekend of September sees the return of the ever popular Aldeburgh Food & Drink festival which celebrates Suffolk's thriving food and drink scene. The Great Framlingham Sausage Festival

Pumpkin Patch and Maize Maze

Enjoy a fun day out choosing your very own pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch this Half Term. With free parking, use of wheelbarrows for children to collect their pumpkins, fun family activities, refreshments and face painting. Organised by GeeWizz Charity who are a small, local charity which help and support children and young adults in Suffolk and Norfolk who suffer from life-threatening conditions, a disability or cancer.
