Suffolk is a wonderful destination to visit at any time of the year, you can choose from an enviable range of festivals and events taking place throughout our beautiful county. Choose from country music festivals, arts festivals & walking festivals, and Suffolk wouldn’t be Suffolk without the countless food and drink festivals & markets.

Suffolk hosts some fantastic events, encouraging more faces to visit our county year on year. Some of the key festivals throughout the year are Aldeburgh Literary Festival in February, the Suffolk Food and Drink Festival and the Alde Valley Spring Festival in April, the Suffolk Walking Festival in May (a fantastic way to explore the county on foot), the Aldeburgh Festival of Music and Southwold Arts Festival in June, the popular music festival; Latitude in July, Snape Proms during August, Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival in September, Woodbridge Shuck Festival in October and the Southwold Way with Words Festival in November.

Suffolk also hosts a range of events for your pets, such as; “Woofbridge – a Bark in the Park” in March, “All about Dogs” in April, “Strut your Mutt” in June,  and the Suffolk Dog Day in July.  If you are interested and in need of somewhere to stay, don’t worry - we have plenty of pet friendly properties for you to stay in.


Laxfield Monthly Produce and Flea Market (Outside of Laxfield Church)

A friendly  & free local market which hosts many stalls such as those selling preserves and home baking, local and free-range eggs, cheese and pork, garden goodies, bric-a-brac, & vintage items, lots of gifts and locally made crafts & also books.

Havergate's Hares (Orford Quay)
Saturday 4th March 2017

Havergate Island is one of the best places in the UK to watch wild brown hares roam. There will be a boat departing from Orford Quay and the guided walks on the island will last approximately three hours. Places are very limited, so you’re advised to book in advance with RSPB.

The Aldeburgh Literary Festival (Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall)
2nd - 5th March 2017

This will be the 16th Aldeburgh Literary Festival. Since 2002 when the festival was established there has been a host of global and local talks. Programmes are available by visiting the Aldeburgh Book Shop website.

Felixstowe Book Festival - Spring Mini Fest (The Orwell Hotel)

Here you will find over 65 stalls selling locally made crafts and quality gifts.

Live Music and Afternoon Tea (The Westleton Crown)
Thursday 16th March

A perfect afternoon to unwind, there will be live music and delicious treats. Indulge in a selection of homemade cakes, scones and finger sandwiches while listening to a local and very talented musician playing live music in our restaurant.

Lambs & Spring Bulbs (Kentwell Hall)
18th, 19th, 25th & 26th March 2016

Here are a flock of rare-breed Norfolk Horn sheep, they begin lambing mid-March and visitors are invited to see the new-borns once they are a few days old and playing in the lawns. March is also a brilliant time to explore the spring bulbs, flowers and walk Kentwell Hall’s beautiful gardens.

Beatrix Potter Story Readings (Melford Hall)
5th & 12th April 2017

This is an ideal event for the kids who can enjoy being swept away by the magical adventures of Peter Rabbit and his friends as written by Beatrix Potter and narrated by one of Melford Hall’s storytellers.

Easter Bread Workshop (Kenton Hall)
Friday 7th April 2017

This workshop is led by Sue Hudson, and gives participants the opportunity to create hot cross buns and other seasonal favourites. The workshop wil l run from 10.30am – 3.00pm and includes lunch, tea and coffee plus refreshments and all ingredients and equipment is included.

Beach Bonkers’ Beachcombing (Sizewell Beach)

Join the Beach Bonkers team and explore Sizewell beach, you can discover your own beach treasures and learn the stories being told.

Cadbury's Easter Egg Hunt (Melford Hall)
14th - 17th April 2017

Join in on a fun Easter egg hunt at Melford Hall – there will be clues to solve and Easter eggs waiting. There will be arts & crafts to get involved with and you can show off your skills in the Egg and Spoon race, which will be held each day.

Ink Festival 2017  (The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth)
21st - 23rd April 2017

The Ink Festival was created to showcase the best new scripts from local writers all put together for jam packed weekend of stage productions, radio plays and films. There will be inspiring workshops, talks from industry professionals, a kid’s programme as well as live music and much more.

Hen Reedbeds Open Day (Reydon)
Sunday 23rd April 2017

This event is organised by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, it is a great opportunity to visit this special nature reserve in the village of Reydon, next to Southwold. There will be guided walks & refreshments.

Here you will find many specialist dealers selling a wide range of good quality antiques and collectables. There will be furniture, silver, china, linen, jewellery, books, clocks, retro and vintage design and decorative items, as well as some local ‘street food’ , including a hog roast.
