Beccles Cottages

A truly charming market town which is nestled next to the River Waveney on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, Beccles is the largest of the market towns in the Waveney Valley area. The town has a great range of independent and national shops, restaurants, cafes and of course a weekly market. The river itself is a huge draw with water enthusiasts where you can hire kayaks and canoes. Often there are opportunities to book a guided boat tour, and The Big Dog Ferry is the perfect way to take in the sights. For a different kind of water experience, Beccles Lido is an outdoor heated swimming pool which is open seasonally and positioned alongside the River Waveney.

The Bell Tower in Beccles is a fantastic tourist attraction in the town. It stands 97 ft tall with 122 steps leading to the top. At various times of the year you can book tours at The Bell Tower and learn of its history and bell mechanisms. When you reach the top - the views are spectacular! For adrenaline seekers Beccles is the place to be with parachuting and go-karting available a couple of minutes from the centre of the town.

A great way to learn more about Beccles and the surrounding areas past is by visiting Beccles Museum located in Ballygate. Here there’s information available on past specialist industries of the town such as clock-making as well as archaeological and geological information on the Waveney Valley area.

The Beccles Marsh Trail is the perfect way to explore Beccles on foot.  The Marsh Trail collates a popular series of walks on an area of grazing marsh surrounding Beccles. The various trails are of various abilities and really capture the beauty of this part of Suffolk.Beccles hosts a great range of events throughout the year including Antiques Market, Duck Race, Beer Festival, Christmas Lights Switch On and Pantomimes.
