Description

Nestled in the very heart of the rolling Suffolk countryside, Poppy’s Cottage is the cutest couple’s retreat you ever did see. This single storey barn conversion is picture perfect in all seasons - for the perfect base to explore both the countryside and coast, look no further! The popular village of Eye is just a ten minute drive away, with the nearby town of Diss too being equidistant. If the city of Norwich (across the border in Norfolk) calls then you can either take the train from Diss (twenty minutes) or arrive by car in just forty five minutes. We’d also recommend that you take a trip to the coast at least once whilst you’re here. Dream of the smell of fish and chips mixed with salty seaside air – you can be in Southwold in under an hour.

A gradual ramp leads up to the covered veranda with seating to sit back and observe the ever-changing surrounding gardens. The owners who live on site are keen gardeners and holidaymakers are welcome to sit out in their own designated garden area complete with pond. The neighbouring fields make the perfect place for dog walking, whilst a right of way leads you to Thrandeston village and Church. Wildlife also call this lovely plot home, with sightings including egrets, kingfishers, buzzards, deer and rabbits to name but a few.

The front door opens into a small hallway and utility area with cupboard space, washing machine and microwave. To the right, a door leads to the open plan living area with fitted kitchen, sitting area and dining space. Windows look out over the picturesque garden, whilst French doors lead out to a small courtyard space to the rear of the cottage.

The master bedroom really is beautiful. This large room with double height ceilings has a French style interior, with a king size bed and a tall headboard, wooden shutters and beautifully painted armoire style wardrobe and chest of drawers. A television provides an added luxury. A door leads to the En-suite shower room, complete with shower cubicle.

Thrandeston is a small village on the edge of the Suffolk/Norfolk border. With beautiful rolling fields and country lanes, the village is split into Thrandeston Great Green and Thrandeston Little Green. The village church of St Margaret dates back to the 15th Century and is known for its medieval wooden carvings of animals and witches. Thrandeston is equidistant to both Diss and Eye – both of which are worth exploring. The historical streets of Eye are made up of a plethora of interesting shops and architecture; complete with pubs and café’s we recommend a good walk before afternoon tea. Diss too has an equally good selection of shops and with a weekly farmers market you can be sure to have the cupboards filled with fantastic locally sourced produce.
