About the property: This beautifully appointed cottage is perfectly equipped for a holiday in this gorgeous corner of Suffolk. With 2 good pubs within walking distance, the lovely market town of Halesworth only a short drive away, and the Heritage Coast at Southwold, Walberswick, Dunwich and Aldeburgh easily accessible, staying at Rose Glen you are extremely well located for a wonderful Suffolk cottage holiday... if you should want to leave the cottage, that is!  Do be aware that with cottages of this age some of the ceilings are low and the stairs are fairly steep, but all contribute to the character of this lovely cottage. Rose Glen forms a part of what is named Railway Terrace so called because it was close to where the Southwold to Halesworth railway ran  but has been closed since 1929.

Rose Glen is, in fact, one of the oldest properties in Wenhaston, with a beautiful oak beamed interior and large inglenook fireplace. This Suffolk holiday cottage is finished to a very high standard and combines traditional features with modern luxuries including a wood burning stove and full central heating (underfloor heating in the garden room), broadband, flat screen TV, DVD player and Freeview.

This property is ideal for: A small family or two couples wanting to explore the Suffolk coast. The cosy living areas create a relaxed environment in all seasons; enjoy evenings by the fire in the winter and glorious summer afternoons in the garden room.

Exploring: Wenhaston is a small Suffolk village, close to the River Blyth. The church is well worth a visit, whatever your religion, as it houses a rare and wonderful Doom Painting. Nearby Halesworth is great for shopping, and there is a good market selling loads of local produce including fresh fish, which can also be purchased from the fish huts atSouthwold and Walberswick where there are sandy beaches and at Southwold, a fantastic pier. A great place for rainy days. Walkers and bird watchers will enjoy a trip to RSPB Minsmere and historians, young and old, will love the Dunwich Museum, one of the best small museums in the country.

Nearby dog friendly beaches include Walberswick and Dunwich, which have no restrictions. Southwold beach is also dog friendly at certain points of the year. A full list of dog friendly beaches can be seen here.

Self Catering: The nearest shops can be found in Halesworth, just a short drive away from Rose Glen. Of course, visit Southwold and you will be spoilt for choice with the number of independent food stockists. Be sure to visit The Two Magpies Bakery for a delicious range of breads and cakes, Sole Bay Fish Shed for locally caught fish and Adnams Cellar and Kitchen for some world famous beer.

Eating and Drinking Out: Wenhaston is lucky enough to have access to two great pubs, The Star where both you and your dog, should you have one, will be made very welcome and the Queens Head, actually in Blyford. The Queens Head at Bramfield, just a couple of miles down the road has a really good reputation for food. Halesworth also offers an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants. Cleones Italian Restaurant at The Angel offers authentic Italian food, including delicious homemade pizzas straight from the oven, and generous portions of homemade pasta. All vegetables and meat are sourced locally. Booking necessary to avoid disappointment. The pub also serves a good traditional menu. If you are a fan of Thai food you must try Singtong Neeyom in Halesworth. Run by a husband and wife team, this friendly restaurant comes highly recommended by locals. The food is to die for, and a takeaway service is also available. NB: Singtong Neeyom is closed on a Monday so do not get caught out.
